Individual counseling is available to all students. Students may access the counselor by asking their teacher or administrator for a pass to the counselors office. Counselors also meet with students individually based on parent, teacher, or administrative referral. All counseling sessions are kept confidential unless students report feelings of self-harm, a plan to harm others, or report being harmed by others.
Small Group Counseling
Small group counseling is offered to students based on referral from administrators, teachers, parents, or directly from the counselor. Small groups provide the opportunity for students to engage in dialogue, participate in activities, and build skills around areas of concern to the student. Counselors cannot guarantee confidentiality within groups due to multiple students being present in each session, however confidentiality is requested and students who do not adhere to this request may be removed from the group. If your student is selected to participate in a small group, you will receive a letter of notification requesting your acknowledgement and permission. Please return the letter in a timely manner. Groups are developed based on the needs experessed by students and staff. Types of groups may include, but are not limited to: - Self-esteem - Study Skills & Academic Success - Grief & Loss - Leadership Development - Managing Stress and Anxiety - Peer Relations and Social Skills - Anger Management

Lesson topics are determined based on county guidelines and the needs of students based on grade level data. Examples of counseling classroom lessons taught are: - Diversity & Acceptance - College Exploration - Problem Solving - Learning Styles - Preparing for High School All lessons are created using the ASCA national model guidelines.
